The incumbent will inspect, locate, determine nature and scope of infestation and exterminate a wide variety of pests in order to eliminate control hazards to structures, public health, stored products and vegetation. Work requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Moves equipment and furniture as required. - Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. When working outside is often exposed to hot sun for extended periods of time and occasionally to bad weather. Inside work is often performed in structural areas with minimum ventilation and/or limited access. Exposed to dust, dirt, toxic vapors, liquids, powders; infestation of pests that carry diseases; cuts bruises, insect bites and stings. Mixes and applies pesticides and herbicides while wearing respirators, gloves and other personal protective equipment designed to nullify the risk of exposure to toxic dust and sprays which might damage health. Damage to health may occur if appropriate safety procedures are not followed. May be exposed to poisonous insects and plants and to wild and rabid animals. Education Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
