Central Washington University is recruiting a Website Content
Writer to join our Public Affairs team in Ellensburg, Washington.

The Role:
The web content writer exists to help drive search traffic and
awareness to CWU's website. Reporting to the Director of Web
Development this position focuses on creating and optimizing
engaging content for websites, web landing pages, HTML emails and
digital ads based on high search volume topics. The position also
assists in creating content for multifaceted marketing campaigns
that support the university's mission. All employees are expected
to support CWU's commitment to diversity and to bring and support

Job Duties
Writing:
- Write, edit, proof, research, approve and publish web content for
web pages, specialized web landing pages, blogs, and other
University digital platforms.
- Implement web content standards to ensure consistency in style,
tone, appropriateness to the audience of web users, and overall
quality of Central Washington University's written and visual web
content.
- Construct and manage production schedules for web page content
with content providers and other University stakeholders.
Content Optimization:
- Measure, evaluate, and improve web content for usability and
effectiveness employing Google Analytics and similar tools.
- Train others to use web content management system and to write
effectively for the web.
- Conduct regular audits and checks of website sections and pages
to ensure timeliness and accuracy of content.
- Lead as well as participate in project teams comprised of
technical and non-technical team members from across the
University.
- Monitor web site regularly and proactively assists clients by
identifying and resolving content, or accessibility issues.
Consult with Internal Clients:
- Work with multiple of content owners and website administrators
who contribute to the university website.
- Provide insight, direction, and training on best practices for
web content.
- Make recommendations for data-driven template and navigation
updates and assist content owners with information architecture
design and content strategy.
- Collaborate with designers, photographers, videographers, and
writers to translate CWU projects to digital spaces with a focus on
SEO and user experience.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a
related field.
Demonstrated ability to write SEO-driven content, including basic
understanding of keyword research.
Experience overseeing content on a large-scale site with multiple
editors and content owners.
Experience creating content plans and calendars.
Experience auditing websites to support marketing and communication
goals.
Experience and/or training in search engine optimization
strategies, including the ability to read and analyze Google
analytics.
Ability to drive collaboration among stakeholders toward common
website goals.
Working knowledge of ADA-web compliance guidelines.
Basic understanding of HTML.
Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students
and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and
experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Expert understanding of Content Management Systems such as Drupal
and CascadeCMS
Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of
backgrounds.
Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into
everyday conversations.
Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse
populations.
3+ years experience working in communications or marketing with a
significant focus in digital communications.
3+ years experience writing for web and working within a content
management system.
3+ years managing projects within an organization, including
implementation of large-scale initiatives with diverse
stakeholders.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary : $47,807 - $58,564 annually
Schedule/Appointment : Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour
lunch)
Working Conditions : Work is performed in an indoor office setting
at CWU's main campus in Ellensburg with frequent in-person
interactions, however this position offers the ability to work
remotely. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer
work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data
entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing
systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work
and/or occasional travel may be required.
