*Job Summary: *
Develop and execute effective and efficient strategy, processes, and content for government affairs policy development and outreach, and education programs and projects to support the operational duties and strategic objectives and goals of 501 Consultants' clients. This position engages client stakeholders through explanation of public policy issues and positions, assisting in development of better policy and legislation, and providing information related to successful operations for client stakeholders.

*Job Duties and Responsibilities: *
_Government Affairs_
Works with the Executive Director, Government Relations Specialist, contracted lobbyist, and Government Affairs Committee to develop and implement government relations policy priorities and associated activities for the Washington Winegrowers Association (Winegrowers).

- Includes policy research and writing, content and materials development, government relations analysis, meeting facilitation

Fosters effective political relationships with local, state, and federal policymakers for both Winegrowers and Winegrape Growers of America (WGA).

Coordinates meetings with policymakers and their staff to advocate for Winegrowers and WGA positions on issues, develops policy initiatives, provides feedback about potential new laws and regulations, and discusses issues facing the industry.

Participates in various client meetings and activities to understand, communicate, and advance policy positions for all relevant clients.

Represents client organizations, with board and committee members, at state legislatures and in Congress to support or oppose legislation, participates in rule-making, lobbies for funding, testifies, and raises awareness about the organizations and their issues.

Facilitates and participates in state and federal legislative trips and tours.

_Public Relations and Communications_
Develops and implements public relations and communications plans:
- Summarizes and synthesizes issues, status, and organizations' efforts.
- Determines vehicles for disseminating information.
- Creates and curates content, for weekly, monthly, and quarterly newsletters, and website and social media pages.
- Drafts letters, press releases, editorials, columns, white papers, and annual reports.
- Edits, formats, spell-checks, and proofreads content critically.
- Fact-checks vigorously.
- Ensures websites are regularly updated and maintained.
- Evaluates metrics of various communications tools and implement changes as appropriate.
- Archives communications.
- Collaborates with team members to develop strategic, effective messaging and client program objectives and goals.

Creates reports and update staff and boards on policy developments.

Provides talking points for executive directors or board members in preparation for meetings, testimony, interviews, and other activities.

Aids in strategic relationship-building with stakeholders.

Ensures up-to-date inventory of key media contacts.

Monitors press coverage.

Ensures subscriptions to various communications platforms and tools are maintained.

--- Familiarity with website editing using WordPress or similar application

*Education, Certifications and Experience: *
--- BA degree in public relations, journalism, political science, public affairs, or related field required
--- 3+ years in related field preferred
--- Public policy experience preferred
--- Experience with agriculture, winery, and/or business issues preferred
--- Valid WA State driver's license

*Working Conditions: *
This job operates in a professional, open-space office environment. It requires the routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines and filing cabinets. This job is a largely sedentary role and requires the ability to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time, occasionally move about inside the office, constantly operate office productivity machinery (such as a computer), occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and constantly communicate and
exchange accurate information. Travel is required. Some remote work may be possible.

*Starting Salary: *
$55,000-$70,000/year, DOE.
