This position is eligible for paid shift differentials!

Employees working evening hours (3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. shift) will receive $1.55 per hour over their regular rate of pay, and employees working night hours (11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. shift) will receive an additional two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour over their regular rate of pay.

Pay Scale for ASCP Medical Technologist: $31.48/hour - $43.3632/hour

Pay Scale for ASCP Medical Laboratory Technician: $25.24/hour - $35.33/hour

Actual pay rate will be calculated based on relevant years of experience and education/certification requirements.



ROLE SUMMARY

Performs standard routine, complex, automated and manual laboratory techniques on all age groups without direct supervision; may perform blood collection using age specific techniques.



ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


Consider the priority and urgency of test results (STAT, ASAP, Panic Values, etc.) and report those results within the established time frame and with documentation.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
Take part in proficiency sample testing, when appropriate.
Performs, evaluates, and records quality control and institutes corrective action as appropriate.
Ensures proper functioning of laboratory equipment by performing calibrations, preventative and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting basic instrument malfunctions.
Assist with the teaching of CLS students and new employees.
Interacts with other healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results.
Maintain competencies in areas worked.
Supports and participates in Q Plus (or other performance improvement) activities.
Assists in evaluation of new methods and equipment.
Utilize supplies and equipment adequately but not excessively.
Complete work in established/reasonable timeframes.
Be an active ingredient in the efforts to improve our community's well-being.




QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Medical Technologist: Bachelor's degree that meets CLIA requirements for testing personnel required. Minimum of 10 years' hospital Medical Technologist Medical Lab Technologist experience may substituted for Bachelor's degree.

Medical Laboratory Technician: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Education that meets CLIA requirements for testing personnel required to perform laboratory testing.

Experience: Recent hospital laboratory experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Registered Medical Technologist (ASCP) preferred (eligible and having passed within six months of completing an accredited medical technology program) or equivalent. Washington State (DOH) Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist license required if employee collects blood.
