Job Description:
All staff members at Yakima Valley Memorial must be in

Actual pay rate will be calculated based on relevant years of
experience and education/certification requirements.
ROLE SUMMARY
Organizes and administers all areas of the Nursing service
department. The Director performs a variety of administrative and
managerial functions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, directs and monitors activities of the assigned departments
as reflected in the mission of Yakima Valley Memorial (YVM) and in
accordance with federal, state, local laws and regulations as well
as standards established by Joint Commission.
Promotes sound fiscal operation by maintaining an effective
budgeting process within the division.
Advises and makes recommendations to the Chief Nursing Officer
(CNO) regarding budgeting, cost and financial matters.
Actively participates with leaders across the organization in
decision making structures and processes for the planning,
promoting and conducting of organization wide performance
improvement activities.
Directs the operations of assigned departments and appraises their
performances, including authority to hire and terminate, subject to
CNO approval.
Directs and assists department Managers in establishing
measurements of performance, increased productivity, cost controls
and maximum utilization of staff and facilities.
Organizes, directs and staffs assigned departments in a manner
commensurate with the scope of services provided and to ensure safe
and quality patient care.
Investigates complaints by staff, Providers, patients and/or their
families regarding patient care.
Participates in appropriate community, state and national nursing
and hospital associations and professional organizations.
Participates in the maintenance and revision of the salary program
for nursing division employees in accordance with hospital
policies, nursing union contract and state labor laws.
Participates with Managers and Administration in planning for
adequate facilities, equipment and supplies influencing the
performance of nursing and medical personnel in their care of
patients.
Coordinates and integrates policies and procedures that guide and
support the provision of services.
Participates with the top management team in formulating,
administering and evaluating organizational strategy and
policy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare
Administration or related field required. Master's degree
preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive leadership
experience in healthcarel setting required.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH)
Registered Nurse licensure required. American Heart Association BLS
required. Nursing Administration Certification preferred.
