Job Description:
Job Description: The Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) will
serve in the Criminal Division of the Yakima office. The primary
assignments for this attorney will be the investigation and
prosecution of a wide range of criminal matters involving violent
crimes, firearms, drug trafficking, counterfeiting, child
exploitation, explosives, as well as white-collar fraud and
economic crimes. Responsibilities will increase and assignments
will become more complex as your training and experience
progress.This is a permanent position. However, all initial
attorney appointments to the Department of Justice are made on a
14-month (temporary) basis pending favorable adjudication of a
background investigation.
Qualifications: Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a
J.D. degree from an accredited law school, be duly licensed and
authorized to practice law as an active member of the bar (any
jurisdiction), and have a minimum of 4 years of post-J.D. legal or
other relevant experience. United States citizenship is
required.Preferred qualifications: Ideally, applicants will have
four to six years of experience litigating criminal cases in
federal court or similar relevant experience. Applicants must
possess excellent research and writing skills, superior oral
communication skills, and demonstrated capacity to function, with
minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment. Ideal
applicants will possess significant trial or other relevant
experience involving white-collar fraud and/or economic crimes.
Applicants must exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and
professional manner with attorney team leaders, attorneys, staff,
and client agencies
