ROLE SUMMARYOperates telephone switchboards. Responds to incoming
calls in a timely manner and directs callers to the appropriate
destination. Provides a smooth, clear, and professionally courteous
communication.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESExhibits excellent customer
relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
Conveys courtesy, compassion, and respect during each phone call.
Promptly answers all incoming calls, and places outgoing calls
appropriately. Operates the paging system to initiate a page to
medical and hospital staff and other approved announcements in
accordance with administrative policies. Immediately responds to
the code phone, paging appropriate code overhead and notifies
appropriate personnel as required. Monitors the alarm system: pages
alarms when applicable, communicates with appropriate personnel,
and participates in internal/external testing of the alarm system.
Participates in internal and regional disaster preparedness drills
and internal/external disaster and emergency situation procedures.
Provides accurate information and directions to patients and
visitors. Locates patient room numbers in the computer system and
directs callers appropriately.QUALIFICATIONS AND
REQUIREMENTSEducation: High School diploma or GED equivalent
required.Experience: Medical office experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: N/ALevel of Business
terminology/Clerical/Customer Service required.ABOUT USVirginia
