This position is located at the JC-Fort Simcoe Civilian Conservation Center located in White Swan, Washington.The Lead Social Services Assistant provides leadership and guidance to students in a group living environment and provides practical counseling to students.For additional information about the duties of this position, please contact Theresa Garza at theresa.l.garza@usda.govIn order to qualify, you must meet the Your application and resume must clearly show that you possess the experience requirements. Basic Requirement for GS-0186:Specialized Experience; examples of qualifying specialized experience include:Group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs.Counselor in a youth summer camp.Instructor in a training program for the development of job skills. Work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and training members of a job crew.Group activities leader in the Armed Services.Unit leader/monitor/proctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government), employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution, social service, or manpower development.Aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private, public welfare, government program, or community organizations, or in voluntary activities. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs.OREducation:One full year (18 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to this position (Submission of school transcripts required). Coursework should include social behavior, human behavior, or health care. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:Providing input in the planning of dormitory activities of students; maintaining order and discipline among students.Scheduling, coordinating, and supervision of work details, recreational and other group activities.Providing leadership and direction to students in performing daily housekeeping duties.Conducting various dorm meetings and student group counseling sessions.OROne full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successful completion graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of this position such as social behavior, human behavior, or health care.ORCombinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
