Interpath Laboratory is accepting candidates for a highly detail-oriented and critically thinking Technical Assistant to work in the immunohematology (blood bank) department.

This position has an attractive Monday through Friday 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM schedule. There may be an occasional weekend where you'll provide coverage for another team member.

This position is based at Interpath's primary reference lab in Pendleton, OR. You'll work alongside a large team of professionals committed to serving patients by providing timely and accurate results to healthcare providers.

Interpath will provide on the job training to individuals who have earned their Bachelors Degree in a Science discipline. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the lab and then continue your remote education toward earning a Med Tech certification which has high income potential.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates an Orthovision instrument to test blood.
  • Ensures accurate and timely testing of collected specimens.
  • Assists MT’s and MLT’s in performing the full range of laboratory tests provided by Interpath Laboratory— Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Urinalysis and Coagulation. This position will primarily focus on the blood bank department.
  • Assists in operating complex automated laboratory equipment, electronic equipment, computer software, and precision instruments. Provide trouble-shooting on such instruments as far as possible.
  • Participates in some aspects of proficiency testing.
  • Understands and adheres to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to assure patient confidentiality.
  • Preforms administrative duties including excellent customer service to all patients, clients and employees. Answers phones in a timely manner following company standards on proper phone etiquette.
  • Actively participates in departmental quality assurance monitoring.
  • Follows all established improved quality (I.Q.) protocols.
  • Follows established safety protocols.
  • Performs other work related duties as the needs of the team evolve.
  • Accepts results as training and complexity allows.

Education: Bachelors of Science degree or a Clinical Laboratory Assistant Certification
