MicroSystems Automation Group (MSAG) has an opening for a full-time Facilities Support Specialist at the Department of Energy, Energy Information Administration (DOE-EIA). MSAG, headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia, is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing subject matter expertise and technology solutions to government and commercial clients since 1988.

Our Client:

The United States (U.S.) Energy Information Administration (EIA) is an independent statistical and analytical agency within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). EIA is the nation's primary Government source of energy information for the Executive Branch, Congress, state governments, industry, and the public. Congress created the EIA in 1977.

Work on this contract supports the Office of Resource and Technology Management (ORTM), the functional and technical organization of the executive leadership of EIA, the Administrator, and the Deputy Administrator.


The Facilities Specialist will provide support, including coordination for Office relocations, office consolidations, renovations, and space reduction for DOE EIA. The Facilities Specialist will be required to track and submit move request orders for Telecom Services and provisioning for office relocations.

Provides on-site or remote support for office relocations, consolidations, renovations, and space reductions, including network configuration support, maintenance of telecom lines inventory, addressing and configuration information for all sites and services.

Works together and in partnership with Management and Telecom services providers for installs, disconnection orders, provisioning, activations, upgrades, maintenance, and management

Attends space meetings to support DOE EIA initiatives and special projects.

Plans, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor materials, and other related costs

Assists in the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services, and facility expansion

Plans budgets and schedules facility modifications, including cost estimates

Inspects construction and installation progress

Initiates planned maintenance programs for a variety of office equipment

Manages the telecommunication functions

Responsible for the on-site performance of all scheduled Work Requests.

Proficient in office moves, furniture relocation, assembly, and adjustments

Responds to service requests such as but not limited to hanging wall items, receiving, and distributing receivables and bulk property, furniture repairs and locks, escorting, building inspections

Prepares space utilization and layout design plans using the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to develop and prepare detailed drawings and specifications for telecommunications, furniture, electrical, etc.

Uses Excel to create and analyze Facilities metrics as requested.

Interacts with vendors and couriers and direct accordingly.

Manages commuter incentives, including tracking, onboarding, and offboarding employees, and troubleshooting issues.

Assists with office-wide communication.

Assists with reservations of workspace and conference rooms.

Creates and submit Security logs as needed.

Assists with training and documentation.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Able to read and interpret blueprints.

Experience with AutoCad.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and communicate regularly with the site Director.

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Strong leadership and management skills.

Solid business judgment.

High energy level and a positive outlook coupled with the requisite "can do" attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to achieve personal and organizational goals and overcome obstacles.

Willingness to think outside of the box and adapt best practices to our growing environment.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in the related field OR 3-5 years of related field experience

3+ years of experience in related field

1+ years of project management experience

Management, facility maintenance, and operations experience

Experience with facilities and space management for large federal agencies

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift or transport items weighing up to 40 pounds.
