Job Description:
All staff members at Yakima Valley Memorial must be in

ROLE SUMMARY
The Corporate Communications Specialist serves as a subject matter
expert and provides internal and external communication
consultation and support for high-level internal groups and senior
leadership system-wide to include senior executives and business
unit leaders. The incumbent forges business partnerships to
produce, create and execute comprehensive communication strategies
to strengthen employee and physician engagement, engage and inform
audiences and protect MultiCare Health System and MultiCare Yakima
Valley Memorial's (MYVM) reputation. Uses excellent communication
instincts to craft effective and compelling messages/materials in a
variety of mediums and participate in ongoing short and long-range
communication planning.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and manages public relations and strategic communications
initiatives to support business objectives for MYVM with a focus on
community engagement and reputation issues.
Develops and implement strategic communications plans, including
public relations, executive positioning and internal communications
to effectively communicate MYVM's position.
Works with executives and other team members, providing strategic
support and mentoring on media and public relations strategies as
necessary.
Trains executives and other leaders on effective team and
one-on-one communication in support of business objectives.
Develops strategies and tactics that proactively address MYVM's
reputation issues.
Uses communications expertise in positioning and messaging to
support company growth and retention objectives.
Distills complex information and effectively communicates messaging
and ideas in written and verbal format for stakeholders.
Writes compelling editorial content to support the communications
strategy.
Strengthens employee and physician engagement through the
development of creative, informative and effective
communications.
Contributes to the overall success of employee and physician
communications strategies, content development and innovative
delivery.
Adheres to MHS Attendance and Punctuality Policy and Procedure
standards, and maintains reliable attendance.
Contributes to the success of the organization by meeting
organizational competency expectations and core values (respect,
integrity, stewardship, excellence, collaboration and kindness),
continuously learning, and by performing other duties as needed or
assigned.
Demonstrates the ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex
communications projects in varying stages of development.
Comfortably works with key executives and stakeholders to create
messaging that effectively represents their objective.
Demonstrates proficiency in all channels of communication to
include email, social media and websites.
Maintains strong organizational skills, idea driven. Utilizes
history of anticipating issues and demonstrates the skills to be
strategic, proactive and assertive.
Remains an exceptional communicator with strong ability to listen
actively and respond to fellow employees, physicians, clinical
staff and executives in a timely, sensitive and competent
manner.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
Skilled in decision making and assessing alternatives.
Excellent interviewing skills.
Deep experience in curating and developing content including
grammar, spelling and formatting.
Maintains the ability to work independently, take initiative and
work efficiently under pressure.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism or
related field of study required.
Experience: Minimum of seven years of experience producing (writing
and editing) communication content and materials required.
Experience working with executives and key stakeholders to support
communication needs required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
required. Working knowledge of social media channels including
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram required. Working knowledge of the
healthcare industry issues and trends preferred.
