Remote position after on-site training has been completed

Actual pay rate will be calculated based on relevant years of experience and education/certification requirements.
Ensures that the Trauma Registry contains accurate, detailed, reliable, and readily accessible information needed to support the operations and quality initiatives of the organization. Responsible for the collection and abstraction of Trauma Registry data. Ensures database meets state and national Trauma criteria. The Trauma Registrar maintains the confidentiality of the registry data and provides registry data as appropriate for quality improvements.

+ Performs data collection and coding of clinical and follow-up data from various sources within the organization into Trauma Registry database.
+ Collaborates with physicians, nurses, other members of the Trauma team, and trauma patients to perform trauma registry functions.
+ Ensures registry accuracy in a timely manner.
+ Performs high quality data entry and abstraction, adhering to of required state and national trauma data guidelines.
+ Participates in quality assurance, data validation, and improvement activities to ensure accuracy of data collection and timely submission.
+ Applies mapping concepts, and validates mapping of registry software for Trauma Quality Improvement Program, National Trauma Data Bank, and Washington State programs.
+ Resolves routine coding issues and appropriately seeks assistance from Trauma Program Leadership and/or Trauma Registry vendor when appropriate.
+ Recognizes patterns of mechanism and injury during case abstraction, in order to contribute to opportunities for injury preventions and community safety.
+ Maintains proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint to report and present statistical and clinical data to leaders and other stakeholders.
+ Analyzes data and supports trauma performance improvement and research by identifying variations in patient care delivery, and measuring clinical outcomes parameters and benchmarks.
+ Maintains proficiency in ICD-10 coding
+ Maintains ability to work independently on assigned projects, and recommends improvements to the process of collecting, maintaining, and reporting patient information.
+ Collaborates with a wide variety of health care professionals.
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of ICD-10 coding program required. Completion of American Trauma Societys Trauma Registrar Course and the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicines Injury Scaling course required within one year of hire. Experience: Minimum of one year of coding experience required. Experience working with registry databases preferred. Healthcare administration experience preferred. . Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite required. Medical terminology knowledge required. Data abstraction experience required.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) and Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) preferred.
